DOWN FEATHER Filling: The “Down difference” Down is a traditional and natural material with exceptional functional qualities. - Insulation. - Light weight. - Can be compressed. - 800 FP (cubic inches per ounce) - 90% Cluster down 10% feathers. Down is a “green” filling. Down and feathers are a by-product of the meat industry. Our geese are raised on farms to create poultry meat for consumption by humans. Once the bird has been slaughtered, the feathers are removed from the dead bird. After the feather and down by-product has been obtained using a feather and down processor, the raw material is sorted to separate the feathers from the down. We do not purchase raw material from farmers or slaughterhouses that utilize the “live pluck”method. Goose Down clusters are round and spherical as seen on the picture above. This natural spherical shape is what gives the jacket, down comfort or down feather loft. The loft comes from the down cluster constantly wanting to return to its naturally round shape. How is down quality measured? "The higher the fill power the higher the quality". 800FP is the finest most consistent fill power available. Fill power determines quality. Also what percentage of the down is actually down cluster. Our products have between 90% and 95% cluster down. The higher the fill power the larger the down cluster, the larger the down cluster the higher the quality, the higher the quality the longer it will last and the higher it will loft and the more it will trap air. Why 800 FP and what is the difference? In addition to the larger down cluster being of higher quality it also came from a older bird. The smaller down clusters eg. 600 fill power down cluster come from smaller less mature birds. 800 fill power down clusters are more expensive because there are fewer of them and the birds are older.
CARE WATERPROOF JACKETS (Wakasazhi, Tsuba, Xanado, Xelo) Remember always to dry the jacket completely after use. Wash it only when really necessary. Hand wash frequently. Impregnate the jacket with suitable products – for example Granger spray. Storing the jacket in damp surroundings will facilitate rot and shorten the service life. Salt often shows itself as white spots. Wash according to the instructions below. Make sure that all zippers are free of salt crystals by washing them with fresh water. Washing:We recommend machine washing at 30°C. Wash the jacket frequently using the gentle/wool-programme and preferably without soap. However, if you have been so lucky that the product smells like fish, use a suitable soap product. As an alternative, use normal detergent without chlorine. Do not use compact detergent or traditional softener. Always follow the washing instructions in the product. Close all zippers and Velcro parts. CARE ZIPPER A zipper should be closed and the slider fixed before cleaning. Left open, the tip of the slider may damage the fabric or the tape may become stretched or may shrink. The gearing of the elements can be damaged by forcing a slider that does not open or close smoothly. Apply paraffin or the lubricating spray "FastenerMate" to the front side and back of the elements and move the slider up and down several times to work in the lubricant and make the slider work smoothly.
